Community Health Nursing
Right now in Clinical, I'm participating in community health nursing...I found a great cartoon that just made me laugh!!
A New Post...what??
Yea, I know, I have no idea where i've been either. So this is my first post in what feels like forever. Just thought I would update all those who still read this thing. Maybe if I kept up with it, and posted more often, everyone would read it. So I have officially started my 4th year of Nursing. It's phenomenal!! I'm so happy to be in 4th year, it means only a few months till I graduate. Graduation...that is a scary, scary thought though. I keep jumping back and forth when I think about graduating. I start getting excited and thinking about all the less studying I'll have to do. About the fact I'll be getting a steady and NICE paycheck. I'll have new and exciting opportunities...I'll move out of my parents house. And what's really funny is all those things that should really exciting, really scare me in the same instant. Change is scary, and next year will be the most change I'll have ever gone through at once. Well maybe not the most change, I did move to a whole new city, but that's different I had my family with me. This time they won't be coming with me. I'll be going all by myself! Well, I'll keep things updated as I get closer and closer to graduation.

Proof of clumsiness
As the title suggests, I am now going to tell of different events that prove how clumsy I can be. I will admit to this, because well they are real events. I've noticed though, that I am only clumsy when I have something else on my mind, or when I am distracted.
Proof #1:
Last year, I was driving Mike and his friends down to the bank. While walking to the bank, I was talking with Mike and his friends and I wasn't even watching where I was going. What happened, I tripped and fell on my hands and knees. Scraped up my entire hand and my knee was quite scraped too.
Proof #2:
As I was pulling out A dish from the cupboard, a bowl to be precise, I some how caught it on other bowls, and pulled quite a few bowls from the cupboard. They all came crashing down to the counter and floor...4 bowls were broken. I then had to clean it all up. I believe I was thinking about the test I had that day, and about my exams coming up...I'm truly not sure.
Proof #3:
As I was walking to the car to leave for my test...I tripped, and fell...into rocks and mud. It really hurt. I cut my hands, bruised up my knee, got covered in mud. And there wasn't even anyone home to help me, my hands were completely full, and all I'm doing is sitting there crying on the steps. (BTW: I handle pain very badly)
Well, see this is what happens when there is way too much on my mind, and too much occupying my time...like the exams I'm studying for right now. Anyway, Hope you enjoyed my proof of how clumsy I am...but if you read this blog...I know you have proof of your own clumsiness too!

I did IT!
Well I did my skills test, and I PASSED! Yay! yeah I passed my skills test, and I got tested on the one that I thought was the worst one, the one that I was the least prepared for!! But that's always the way. I would have taken anyone of them except Trach suction or care. But that's what I got! But yet I did it. Now I just have a few tests, and a few exams, you knokw nothing big.
I picked out my new sneakers today, their crosstrainers, that way I have more support for kick boxing and for running, and walking. I also picked up some flip flops, ah it's a sure sign that summer is right around the corner. Purple and grey, I've never had purple flip flops...me never having purple flip flops it seems like an oxymoron.
So it's easter weekend coming up, I have family coming and visiting so it should be a wonderful weekend. Also means I won't get a lot of studying in, so I better use the days I have off to my advantage and really buckle down and study instead of goofing around like I usually do.
Anyone ever have to evaluate yourselves...I find that the most annoying thing to do, you never know how you've done, but for my clinical I have to evaluate myself and then I have meet with my instructor and go over her evaluation of me, and then I decide if I agree or not. Seems a little pointless to me, but we do it...every single semester, every single clinical time. Whatever, only 2 more times and then I graduate, so I think I can put up with it.
I picked up a book today about different areas and job positions available throughout Canada and the United States. It's hard to believe this summer is when I can start contacting hospitals or companies that interest me. Let them know that I am graduating in may, therefore get paper work started. Amazing, isn't it.
Well I'll update you on job prospects when I know about them!

Skills Lab!!
Well this week I have my Skills Challenge!! It kind of sounds like something from American Gladiators...SKILLS CHALLENGE...Bum, bum, bummm.
My skills challenge is literally me standing there doing something perfectly for my instructor. This includes stuff like, giving an IM (intramuscular injection...a needle), Trach care, naropharyngeal suctioning, Chest tube care, butterfly needle access, and Total parenteral Nutrition. Yes, all this sounds so complicated, at least I'm only tested on 1 of these several skills. But wait, I don't know which one it is until I roll the dice. (literally I roll a dice and what ever number it falls on coincides with a list of skills that are numbered)
Therefore, I have to know each one of these skills inside and out! Because if I don't, I don't pass. And if I don't PASS, I won't be able to go on to 4th year, won't be able to graduate, won't be able to get a job, and won't be able to move out of my house, live on my own, find out what it's like to be independent, and create a life for myself. My life would be ruined because of one test or as they like to call it *Challenge*!
Well if I have a challenge coming up, I better go study for it...Anyone want to volunteer to practice on...I now know how to take BLoOd?? Anyone??

This is OH so cute
I borrowed this from someone else's blog...I just thought it was oh so cute!
Details on How to Win Over That Hopeless Romantic Girl Of Your Dreams(an insider perspective on the female mind)
1) When you ambiguously say "I'll call you, or you call me," Always always always make sure you call her first, even if you have to tattoo her phone number to the bottom of your foot.
2) If you actually like her, do NOT leave it up to her to arrange dates. You should take the initiative and suggest outings for the two of you. Yes, you may be a shy little mouse, but she is too and you'd seem like a hero for making the first move.
3) Unless she is absolutely, 300% sure that you are madly in love with her, the only hand-holding that she is going to initiate is to playfully grab your hand when she wants you to go somewhere with her. Take this as a HINT! Girls don't touch guys unless they want to. If she grabs your hand for practically no reason, chances are she'd much rather be holding it.
4)The first kiss. Don't be discourages if she doesn't try and kiss you. Please don't be afraid to kiss her; even if it doesn't work out it won't kill either of you. A little hint, if she's joked about kissing your various bumps and bruises better, then it's most likely she'd like to kiss much more than your hurt finger.
5) Win her heart: it's the little things that count. Bring her a daisy in the morning, take her for breakfast. Show up at her place of work after she's pulled a 9-hour shift, if only to walk her home.
6)Girls are silly. Laugh with them when you tease, hold them when they seem sad, and let them cry on your shoulder when something tragic happens.
7) We're not fragile, and you're not dating an invalid. She would love to have a snowball fight sometime, or have you wrestle her to the ground, and doesn't mind having her hair messed up while you flirt shamelessly with her.

UCLA is smart!!
UCLA STUDY (very interesting and short)
A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that
the kind of a face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest while he is on fire. No further studies are expected.
This will seriously make any woman laugh outloud!!

James and Dolly
The Day I Fall in Love-James Ingram and Dolly Parton
Just an ordinary day
Started out the same old way
Then I looked into your eyes and knew
Today would be a first for me
The day I fall in love
On the day I fall in love
Sky will be a perfect blue
And I'll give my heart forever more
To someone who is just like you
The day I fall in love
People all say love is wonderful
That the bells will ring
The birds will sing
The skies will open
I wonder where's that great big symphony
Roll over Beethoven
Won't you play with me
And I'll never promise to be true to anyone
Unless it's you
Unless it's you
The day I fall in love
Just an ordinary day
Started out the same old way
Then I looked into your eyes and knew
Today will be a first for me
A first for me
The day I fall in love
I know you'll be there
Ooh....I know...The day I fall in love

Hmmmm
"The best thing about loving and being hurt is that you get to know what true love really is. For as gold is tested in fire, and so will love be perfected in pain."Marvin Jay M. Torres
"True love doesn't just fill your heart, it overflows into your whole body and soul."
"If you are willing to trust in a person when all others tell you to go against it, if you are willing to risk getting your heart broken because you believe in that other person, Then that is true love."
"When true love comes, it is like flying upon wings above all else on the ground."
"If you ever had your heart broken or hurt, and you forgave that person and still was able to love them like before, that's true love!"
"A true love every spirit will crave."
"True Love is something you share with someone... a journey that takes a lifetime to complete."
"Everytime I see you, every time I hear you my stomach rolls around and around, like butterflies. And, I found out he feels the same way. Then, it must be TRUE LOVE"
"It takes a second to say I love you, but a lifetime to show it."
"A relationship is a two way street. It's never all your fault or the other persons. You go into the relationship together and work through it all together."
"Once in awhile right in the middle of an ordinary life love gives us a fairy tale."
"If he is the first thing you think of when you wake up, the only thing you think of when you're awake, and the last thing you think of before you go to bed, then he is really somebody special."
"Whatever it is I am looking for, I still don't know. But I do know that where ever it is, I want you to be there with me."
"Loved you yesterday, love you still; always have, always will."
"Sure, there are some things about you that upset me, scare me, embarrass me and just plain piss me off, but the good things outweigh them infinitely."
"Love is like swallowing hot chocolate before it has cooled off. It takes you by surprise at first, but keeps you warm for a long time."
"Love is like a favorite song; no matter how many times it plays again, you never get tired of it!"
"Passion is not having sex; it's making love forever."
"Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly."
"I would give up everything for one moment with you; for one moment is better than a life time of never knowing you."
so there's a few quotes and to take to heart...

Walk Away
I was driving home from school today, and this song came on...I love it right now.
You've got your mother and your brother
Every other, undercover, telling you what to say (say)
You think I'm stupid
But the truth is, that it's Cupid, baby
Loving you has made me this way (way)
So before you point your finger
Get your hands off of my trigger, oh yeah
You need to know this situations getting old
And now the more you talk, the less I can say
I'm looking for attention,
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go
Well, if you don't have the answer
Why you still standing here
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Just walk away (just walk away, just walk away)
I waited here for you like a kid waiting after school
So tell me, how come you never showed (showed)
I gave you everything and never asked for anything
And look at me, I'm all alone (alone)
So before you start defending, baby
Stop all your pretending
I know you know I know
So what's the point in being slow
Let's get this show on the road today,
heyI'm looking for attention
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go
Well, if you don't have the answer
Why you still standing here
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Just walk away (just walk away, just walk away)
I want a love, I want a fire
To feel the burn, my desires
I want a man by my side
Not a boy who runs and hides
Are you gonna fight for me
Die for me Live and breathe for me
Do you care for me
Cause if you don't then just leave
I'm looking for attention
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go
Well, if you don't have the answer
Why you still standing here
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Just walk away
If you don't have the answer
Just walk away
Just leave
Walk away, walk away
There ya go...you know what I mean Lindsay *grin*

A Kiss
This post is a tribute to something so simple but has so much meaning behind it. A KISS! A kiss is a symbol of something truly special, something that everyone longs for and needs in their life. There are several different kinds of kisses, a parent/child kiss, an innocent kiss, a family love kind of kiss, and a romantic kiss. All show a symbol of love.
First off the kiss between a parent and a child. It's beautiful, in that kiss there is so much, the love, a need to protect, joy, it shows their pride in their child, that one kiss is a symbol of the oath a parent makes to their child. Anytime I see a mother and her child it puts a longing in my heart for that kind of love myself. The first time I kiss my child will be a grand moment.
Innocence is a percious gift and should not be taken. Children are innocent, they show their love easily, through hugs and kisses. Think about it, can you remember seeing children play, and when they have to say goodbye they wrap their arms around each other and give a great big kiss. Innocent, but has so much love in it.
Sibling love, it's a special love, a bond created by blood. I can remember kissing my little brother right on the cheek and of course like any little brother they have that initial reaction of ewww...gross, but then they get that little smile on their face or grin outright. They do that cause they know that it's a way of showing love. Sometimes siblings just don't say it enough, so a kiss, a small kiss shows that love.
Now...there is another type of kiss, a kiss between two people that's a symbol of passion, sentiment, and love. The romantic kiss! I know you can all remember a kiss from someone you love, especially from someone that you fell in love with. Can't you remember that firt kiss you got from a boy that was absolutely perfect. Funny thing is, that kiss can happen anywhere--On your porch, in a doorway, in a car, on a walk, under the stars, in a school, at a party, under mistletoe, or even on a couch. I can remember a first kiss that was absolutely perfect, it was a simple kiss, but when it happened I could feel the butterflies in my stomach, and it was like a shock went from my head to my toes. When a kiss happens with the right person, you never forget it.
So a kiss...two body parts touching, it's nothing spectacular...but in reality it's something magical!

The CheeseWhiz effect
The title of my blog has a purpose. This morning I was up, and ready to go. Showered had everything ready and I was going to go out the door at 8:00 am. Well I had taken my toast out of the toaster and was going to put one of my favorite spreads on top...the cheesewhiz, and when I opened the fridge door there was no cheesewhiz, I was PO'd! and it ws 8:05 by this time so I didn't have a chnce to get nything else for breakfast. I then realized I had forgotten a book and had to go back in to the house to get it. My car has frost on it when I get out to drive to school (because I forgot to start my car like I usully do). Therefore holding me up more. Anyway I get to lindsay's at about 8:12 and leave for the university. And of course I hit morning traffic!! I HATE morning traffic.
It is now 8:31--I walk through the university doors, and for the life of me I can't remember what room my class is in. This makes me very upset, and I storm into the computer lab making me even later.
8:45--I finally walk through the doors of my first class, which is just jammed packed, so I can't really sneak in. I then have to survive 3 hours of this class...in HARD metal chairs. I look over the syllabus, and all I can think is this is a lot of work...my first test is the first of february.
Class finally ended at 11, that was nice, got out a half an hour early. I then got to eat and relax, for 2 hours, that is a really long break to be inbetween two 3 hour classes. Anyway, I hung out with Lindsay and watched a movie, which I didn't really get to finish...oh well. It was still lots of fun. I was starting to feel better and get into the day, I was actually looking forward to my next class. HAHAHA...looking forward to it!!!
1:00 pm--The start of class, again I am squished into an itty bitty room with all these students. Originally I thought this class wasn't going to be all that bad...I thought that I may enjoy this class, it's about families, and family nursing which I find interesting. IT'S ALL ABOUT THEORY!! Lindsay can back me up, before I left her I said, this class better have case studies, if not, well then it's not going to be a fun class.
Now to explain a few more things, I feel as if I'm taking 6 classes:
Class #1- Microbiology
Class#2- Nursing in complex situations
Class#3- Family Nursing
Class#4- Lab to Family Nursing (Which has assignments all on their own, because it is connected but completely on it's own, I wish you all could understand how mad that makes me)
Class#5- Lab to Nursing in complex situations
Class#6- Clinical!
Well this is my life for the next semester, I know it will go by fast, but seriously it looks oh so overwhelming when I initially look at it! I probably would have had a more optimistic outlook on all this if my day hadn't started out the way it did...IT'S ALL THE CHEESEWHIZ'S FAULT!
